Newt Gingrich Slept with the Enemy Part 2

Grassroots Action Alert
Fellow Patriots,

Several weeks ago I wrote about the Newt Gingrich betrayal of the movement on global warming. Some of you felt it wasn’t a big deal, most of you were as outraged as I on the issue. Those of you who didn’t see it as an important issue pointed me to a video where Newt Gingrich said it was the biggest mistake he had ever made, suggesting we just forgive and forget.

I "might" be "slightly" inclined to forgive on the matter, if it was the only betrayal of the movement Newt Gingrich is responsible for. Unfortunately, it’s only one of many.

Today I put together an outline of a second betrayal that occurred under Newt Gingrich. This particular event is very personal to me, as I was deeply involved and Newt’s actions were a direct attack against my own.

You see, in 2009 I joined several friends in a journey deep into upstate New York where we decided to help campaign for and report on the candidacy of Doug Hoffman in the special election for NY23. A far left "Republican" named Dede Scozzafava was running on the Republican ticket and our goal was to push her out of the way so we could defeat Democrat Bill Owens.

Doug Hoffman was the talk of the country. He had the endorsement of the Club for Growth, Sarah Palin, Freedomworks and many other conservative groups and figures. Virtually the entire tea party movement had rallied behind Doug Hoffman.

In the corner of leftist Dede Scozzafava there was Newt Gingrich. Not only did Newt Gingrich endorse Scozzafava, he went to great lengths to lash out at those of us who refused to do so. We wrote in to Newt begging him to reconsider, only to be ignored, then insulted on national television.

As we predicted, Scozzafava dropped out of the race and endorsed Bill Owens. She recorded a robocall message for Owens and Hoffman narrowly lost the race. Thanks to Newt Gingrich, a seat that should have remained red went blue.

There is a lot more to this story and I want to invite you to read the entire piece. Newt Gingrich is entertaining and fun to watch when he’s debating a moderator, but he’s a professional politician who has betrayed time and again.

Don’t be fooled, Newt isn’t as conservative as he preaches. He has OPENLY preached party over principle (as can be seen in the videos here) and his "mistakes" have cost us dearly as a movement.

For Liberty,

-Eric Odom
